WALK, JOG OR RUN A 5K IN 2012

Held midweek, on summer evenings during June, the Nuffield Health jogscotland 5k challenges are events that the whole family and community can enjoy.

The Nuffield Health jogscotland 5k challenge series can be used to go for a PB, as a personal challenge, to raise funds for charity, as a training run or just for fun! The main thing is being active and enjoying yourself while out in the fresh air!

Go for Gold and get a FREE entry!
All gold jogscotland members receive one free free entry to a Nuffield Health jogscotland 5k challenge. If you would like to upgrade to gold, call 0131 273 3003.

Team Entries
How about entering a team this year? Get your colleagues, jogscotland group members, friends and family involved - after all, you could win a prize! Teams must consist of four or more members regardless of if you are entering a community team, workplace team or athletics club team.

Junior Challenge Runs
Junior runs (for under 13 years) of between 1k and 1 mile (depending on venue) will be held at all venues before the main 5k challenges, so bring your young ones along and help us get Scottish kids more active! If you are 11 or 12 years old and feel capable of doing the full 5k Challenge you are allowed to enter that instead, this is due to a change in rules by UK Athletics in 2011.

The Junior Challenge Runs are self timed events, a race clock will be visible at the finish or participants can record their own times. All finishers will receive a goody bag, medal and a bottle of water. No prizes are awarded for finishing positions, everyone is a winner in our book!

Last year’s events were filled with fun, laughter and even sunshine! But don’t take our word for it…

Carrie Anderson, part of Team Xxodus from the Xodus Group in Aberdeen, said: “It was a great run and a great atmosphere. We entered as a team in preparation for the BG Energy Challenge and thought this was an excellent opportunity to test ourselves. We all had a really enjoyable run.”

Carl Rogers, took part in the Borders jogscotland 5k challenge, he said: “It’s fabulous. I turned up as a hotel guest, and decided to take part. You really couldn’t pick a better location or weather.”

Scott Ferguson, Jog Leader at Meadowmill brought his jogscotland group along to the Edinburgh event and they had a great night. He said: “It’s a wonderful event and quite humbling when you see so many different people of all ages taking on the challenge of a 5k.”

Suzanne Mattison, who runs with the jogscotland group at the Run 4 It store in Inverness, took on the Inverness jogscotland 5k challenge, she said: “I loved the course along the beautiful River Ness and I’ll definitely sign up again next year, even though I’ll be aiming for 10k races by then!”
