HUNDREDS SHARE THE CHRISTMAS CHEER AT JOGSCOTLAND 5K
6th December 2009
With participants ages ranging from 13 to 74, it was quite a Christmas sight to see runners in various fancy dress crossing the finish line, including numerous Santa’s, elves and fairys.
BBC radio personality Bryan Burnett also took part in the 5k which is supported by North Lanarkshire Leisure and Run 4 It. Bryan is ambassador of the jogscotland programme, and earlier this year hosted the prestigious scottishathletics Annual Awards Dinner at the Marriott, in Glasgow.
All participants enjoyed the flat scenic route and receiving their well earned goody bag and medal at the end. They were also given the opportunity to meet Jog Scotty, the famous 7ft Scotty Dog who is jogscotland’s official mascot.
Alistair Currie, Manager of jogscotland said: “What a fantastic turnout today, it’s great to see so many people taking the opportunity to squeeze in one more run before Christmas.”
“It’s so easy at this time of the year to drop physical exercise from our daily routines, as we rush around in the build-up to Christmas. But today has proven that people are still keen to get out in the fresh air and join in on our jogscotland Christmas Cracker madness!”
jogscotland HQ would like to thank everyone who helped out on the day and made the event such a success.
