Aviemore gears up for a weekend of running

The Highland town will host everything from a one mile fun run to a half marathon this weekend.
A traffic-free one mile Fun Run for all the family will be held on Saturday around Macdonald Aviemore Highland Resort, starting at 2.30pm. Registration runs from midday to 2pm, with the race kicking off at 2.30pm. For more information CLICK HERE.
Sunday will see the half marathon and 10k races take place. The half marathon starts at around 1100ft above sea level, with a spectacular route through Glenmore Forest and Loch Morlich. The 10K route will start at Glenmore, using the half marathon route along the main road, with both races finishing at the Four Seasons Hotel within Macdonald Aviemore Highland Resort. Registration is at the Four Seasons Hotel between 7am and 8.30am. Runners in both races will be ferried to the start lines in shuttle buses, leaving betwen 7.45am and 9am, and the races begin at 10am. For more details CLICK HERE.
Proceeds from the event go to the Speyside Trust, which helps people with disabilities enjoy outdoor holidays.
