JOG LEADERS' CONFERENCE 2012 - PROGRAMME ANNOUNCED

17 / 09 / 2012

Speakers from SAMH, parkrun, Run Britain and Cairngorm Runners, plus a full range of practical workshops from Nuffield Health experts.

The full programme has been announced for this year's jogscotland Jog Leaders' Conference, which takes place at the Marriott Hotel in Glasgow on October 27th. Jog Leaders are promised a packed day of presentations, Q&As and workshops full of ideas about how to get even more from jogscotland for themselves and their groups.

We are delighted to welcome Judith Mackinnon from the Scottish Association for Mental Health (SAMH), who will talk about the organisation's work on the links between exercise and good mental health. The work of SAMH shows how you as Jog Leaders can promote wellbeing in your communities and workplaces.

We are also happy to announce several speakers who will offer you the benefits of a wealth of experience at organising events, from local community runs to mass-participation events. Parkrun founders Tom Williams and Paul Sinton wll tell us about how they made such a huge success of their free timed weekly 5Ks.

Gavin Lightwood from RunBritain has been race organiser for Edinburgh Marathon, Great Scottish Run and the Women’s 10k in Glasgow. He will tell us about his own experiences and suggest the best ways you can help your group members prepare for mass-participation races.

Our own Melanie Clouston and Alan Riach from the jogscotland group Cairngorm Runners will tell us about the local events they have organised, which include the Nethy Explorer 12K and the Race the Steam Train run.

In the afternoon, our partners Nuffield Health will offer expert workshops on a whole range of subjects including nutrition, injury, stretching and warm-up.
