Grant of up to £2k for community sports groups
10 / 09 / 2012
jogscotland groups could apply for help to boost the number of people taking part in physical activity.
To capitalise on the legacy of enthusiasm for sport in the wake of the Olympics and Paralympics, some jogscotland groups could apply for grants of up to £2000.
Sportscotland has a extra £500,000 from the Big Lottery Fund to make 250 grant awards to sporting clubs and community groups that are getting more people active.
To apply, jogscotland groups need to be properly constituted, with a committee and a written constitution. But don't let that put you off! Becoming constituted is much simpler than most people expect, and we can help you with it. We can forward you a template constitution to adapt for your use, and you'll need to elect a committee, which should meet at least once a year. You'll need a bank account, and to keep track of how much money comes in and out each year, and you're away. If you'd like some advice on formally constituting your jogscotland group, contact Ann Davidson on 0131 539 7341 or ann.davidson@scottishathletics.org.uk.
Here's some more information from sportscotland about the funding - click on the link at the bottom for full details.
One of our sports focussed programmes 2014 communities has had an extra injection of cash £500,000 which will allow us to make an additional 250 awards up to April 2013. The maximum award is £2k and the programme outcomes that must be met are:
- More people take part in sport or physical activity
- More people volunteer in sport or physical activity
- More people and communities are brought together through taking part or volunteering in sport or physical activity
The priorities are:
- Getting more women and girls to take part in sport or physical activity
- Getting more disabled people to take part in sport or physical activity
- Getting more older people (over 50) to take part in sport or physical activity
- Getting more younger people (under 25) to take part in sport or physical activity
- Getting more people from black and minority ethnic communities to take part in sport or physical activity
Your project does not need to meet any of these to be offered a grant but if we do not have enough funds to support all the projects we would like to, we are more likely to fund those that meet one of our priorities.
We largely get applications from schools and are keen that even more grassroots sports clubs access the monies alongside the schools.
