Sky Ride Edinburgh

06 / 09 / 2012

If you fancy a little cross-training, why not sign up for this free event and join other cyclists - including Sir Chris Hoy - in Holyrood Park on Saturday (8th)?

The Edinburgh Sky Ride offers a day of traffic-free cycling in Holyrood Park, along with lots of activities to keep families entertained.

There will be BMX and mountain bike stunt demonstrations, novice races for under-16s, live music and refreshments.

Olympic hero Sir Chris Hoy will be there, along with DJ and TV presenter Edith Bowman.

Sir Chris said: "I'm really looking forward to coming to Edinburgh and supporting my home town’s first Sky Ride City event. For the last four years I’ve been proud to support Sky Ride which gives people the inspiration to get out on their bike and the unique opportunity to enjoy cycling with family and friends on traffic-free streets. It’s been a great summer for cycling and I can’t wait to see everyone motivated by Team GB’s success come together to enjoy a fantastic event – hope to see you there!"

The route takes in Queen's Drive, the Innocent Railway path and parts of Duddingston. It will be open and traffic-free from 9.30am to 3.30pm and there is no official start point or start time - cyclists can ride as much or as little as they want.
