Balloch's 5K Goes From Strength to Strength
06 / 07 / 2012
The scenic 5K runs held in Balloch Country Park in June were so successful that another five have been planned – starting tomorrow (Saturday July 7th).
Tomorrow’s event starts at 9.30am just inside the main gates of the park on Balloch Road (opposite the bus terminus, which is next to the Co-Operative supermarket).
There is no registration, no fee and no official recording of times - just turn up. The course will be marked, but there will be no marshalls along the route, and participants run at their own risk. The route takes in iconic views of Loch Lomond, the Walled Garden and Balloch Castle – mapmyrun users can see a map by clicking here.
Children are encouraged to take part, but under 11s should be accompanied throughout the run by a parent or guardian. Younger children are not put under any pressure to perform by teachers, coaches, parents or guardians - they just take part for fun.
If anyone would like to help marshall, email Maurice.Donohue@west-dunbarton.gov.uk and turn up at the main gates of the park at 9am.

A hotline number has been set up for participants to check if the run has been cancelled due to severe weather – call 07534 365 271 (but do not leave any messages on this number).
Information about the run will also be available on the West Dunbartonshire Jog Scotland page - click here.
There will be no run on July 14 due to the Balloch Games, but it will take place on July 21st and 28th, August 4th and 11th.
