Jog Leader Membership
Public Liability Insurance cover and Jog Leaders Membership
Public liability insurance is an imperative aspect of leading any physical activity programme.
jogscotland has public liability cover for those leaders that need it. Whether your Jog Leader membership includes public liability cover depends on the setting in which you take your group(s) and your employment status:
- If you get paid by your employer to lead jogscotland groups (e.g. local authority, private gym or health club staff) then your employers public liability should cover you (check details of cover with your employer).
- If you lead jogscotland groups on a voluntary basis in either a community or a workplace setting then jogscotland will provide public liability cover for you. You need to inform us of this for cover to be valid.
- If you lead jogscotland groups or individuals on a freelance basis you will need to take out a freelance Jog Leader membership, this is included in Year 1 with your course registration fee but will be chargeable from Year 2 onwards (at the time of writing the price for this has not been set but will be no more than £50 p.a)
- All leaders will have to renew their membership on an annual basis, stating which category of group(s) they are leading and in which capacity (e.g. paid staff, voluntary or freelance)
