First Time Participants

Entering an event for the first time can be a pretty nerve racking experience.  Setting yourself a goal is a great way to ensure you stay motivated however, you might be nervous about what to expect before, during and after the event.

Before

Race packs, including information on where to go and when will be sent out with your running number approximately one week before the event.  If you don't receive this and you have entered within the closing date then please contact us on jogscotland@scottishathletics.org.uk

The nervousness that comes with entering an event never goes away, its simply changes it focus as you change your goal.  Thoughts of what to eat, what to wear, how to get there will pop into your head and this can all be a little stressful!  In advance please check out our race day tips which you can access by clicking here.  Hopefully this will give you an idea of how to deal with all these questions to help minimise the nerves on the day!

During

The mass warm up will start about 10 minutes before the official start time.  Please ensure you do a warm up, however if jumping up and down in a co-ordinated manner is not really your idea of fun then please do at least do a few minutes jog to get the body going.  On the start line try to line up with people who will complete the event in a similar time to yourself, there will be signs to indicate this so look out for them on the side.

Then you will be off on, relax and enjoy it, there is no pressure to get a time or run all the way, the goal is to finish and have fun!  Plenty time to get serious in your "running career!"

After

When you cross that finish line CONGRATULATIONS, you have sucessfully completed your goal.  You will be given a bottle of water, a t-shirt, medal and a goody bag!  Now you can relax and enjoy some food and drink in the sun! (well hopefully there will be sun!)

Results will be posted on the jogscotland website so you can check out your official time!
